Prayers to Thank God

The plain one: just say thank you.

I will give thanks to Yahweh with my whole heart. I will tell of all your marvelous works. Psalm 9:1

Give thanks to Yahweh, for he is good, for his loving kindness endures forever. Psalm 118:1

Lord, I want to give You thanks. For my life, my breath, and this day. For the people who love me. For the things I asked for, and the ones I didn’t know to ask for. For the hard things that taught me. You have been good to me, more than I deserve. Thank You. In Jesus’ name, amen.

When you want to say it simply, and mean it.

Thank You, God. Thank You for loving me when I didn’t deserve it. Thank You for being patient, for forgiving me, and for staying near. Thank You for the small things I forget to notice. Help me remember this next time I’m worried. Thank You, Father. In Jesus’ name, amen.

For the gift of being able to talk to You at all.

In nothing be anxious, but in everything, by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:6-7

Father, thank You for prayer. Thank You that I can talk to You any time, in any place, and You listen. Thank You that I don’t need the right words. Thank You for the times You’ve answered, and for the times You’ve just held me. Teach me to pray more, and to trust more. In Jesus’ name, amen.

For a good day, a good thing, or no reason at all.

God, I want to thank You today. Not because everything is perfect, but because You are good. Thank You for what You’ve done, and for who You are. Thank You for walking with me through every day. You have never left me. I’m grateful. In Jesus’ name, amen.

Why we thank Him, and how to start.

In everything give thanks, for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus toward you. 1 Thessalonians 5:18

And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to which also you were called in one body; and be thankful. Colossians 3:15

Lord, teach me to thank You well. Not only when things go right, but in everything, because You are good in everything. Help me begin each day with thanks, and end each day with thanks. Open my eyes to what I usually miss. Let thankfulness become my habit, and my joy. In Jesus’ name, amen.

For who He is, not only for what He has done.

Father, I thank You for who You are. You are patient. You are kind. You are faithful when I am not. You are holy, and yet You let me come close. I don’t have to bring You anything to earn it. I thank You for being You. In Jesus’ name, amen.

Start the day with thank you.

Lord, before the day takes over, I want to say thank You. Thank You for sleep, for waking up, and for a new day. Thank You for what’s ahead, even the parts I don’t know yet. Let gratitude be the first thing I do today. In Jesus’ name, amen.
