Prayers of Praise to God

Prayers to praise God for who He is, in the morning, in hard times, and any time.

“Great is Yahweh, and greatly to be praised! His greatness is unsearchable.”Psalm 145:3 · World English Bible

Praise is for who He is, not only for what He has done.

Lord, I want to praise You, not for anything You’ve done today, but simply for who You are. You are holy. You are faithful. You are patient with me when I’m slow to listen. You are good when I can’t see it, and You’re still good when I can. There is no one like You. I lift my voice, and I lift my heart. You are worthy of all of it. In Jesus’ name, amen.

The psalmist’s way: praise Him every day, with everything you have.

I will exalt you, my God, the King. I will praise your name forever and ever. Every day I will praise you. I will extol your name forever and ever. Great is Yahweh, and greatly to be praised! His greatness is unsearchable. Psalm 145:1-3

Let everything that has breath praise Yah! Praise Yah! Psalm 150:6

Great God, I exalt You. You are King over everything I can see and everything I can’t. Your greatness has no end, and I will never run out of reasons to praise You. Today I will praise You with my words, with my work, and with my attention. Let everything in me say yes to You. In Jesus’ name, amen.

Praise Jesus for what He did, and for what He is doing in you now.

Through him, then, let us offer up a sacrifice of praise to God continually, that is, the fruit of lips which proclaim allegiance to his name. Hebrews 13:15

Sing to Yahweh a new song! Sing to Yahweh, all the earth. Sing to Yahweh! Bless his name! Proclaim his salvation from day to day! Psalm 96:1-2

Jesus, I praise You for what You did on the cross, and for what You are doing in me now. Thank You that You took what I deserved and gave me what I didn’t. I offer You my praise, even when it’s quiet, and even when it’s not perfect. Let my words, my songs, and my life say that You are worthy. You are my Savior and my King. In Jesus’ name, amen.

For the days when praise doesn’t come easily.

For though the fig tree doesn’t flourish, nor fruit be in the vines; the labor of the olive fails, the fields yield no food; the flocks are cut off from the fold, and there is no herd in the stalls: yet I will rejoice in Yahweh. I will be joyful in the God of my salvation! Habakkuk 3:17-18

Because your loving kindness is better than life, my lips shall praise you. So I will bless you while I live. I will lift up my hands in your name. Psalm 63:3-4

Lord, I don’t feel like praising You today. Things aren’t the way I hoped they would be. But You haven’t changed, so I’m choosing to praise You anyway. Let this be a sacrifice of praise, offered with a heavy heart. You are still good, and Your love is better than life. Lift my eyes off what’s missing and onto You. In Jesus’ name, amen.

Short enough to say in the car, on a walk, or while you wait.

Thank You, Lord, for who You are. You are good, You are faithful, and You are near. Praise You for this day, for this breath, and for every good thing You’ve put in my life. You are worthy. Praise Your name. In Jesus’ name, amen.

Ask Him for a heart that wants to praise.

Father, give me a heart that wants to praise You. I get so caught up in what I need that I forget to look at who You are. Teach me to start with worship, and to end with it. Fill my mouth with praise, and let it be real. Help me notice Your goodness all day long, and say so. In Jesus’ name, amen.

Before the phone, the list, and the worries, start with Him.

Lord, the first thing I want to say today is thank You, and praise You. Before I look at my phone, my list, or my worries, I want to look at You. You are good, and You are in charge of this day. Let my praise start now and carry through every hour. I trust You with the day ahead. In Jesus’ name, amen.
