Prayers for God’s Presence

When you need Him near, not in theory, but today.

He said, “My presence will go with you, and I will give you rest.” Exodus 33:14

Lord, I need You near. Not just in theory, but in this room, in this day, in this decision. I don’t want to do anything You aren’t in. Quiet my heart so I can sense You. Go with me wherever I go, and give me the rest that comes from knowing You are here. I’ve been busy, and I’ve missed You. I’m here now. In Jesus’ name, amen.

For when you want to be close to Him, more than you want what He gives.

For a day in your courts is better than a thousand. I would rather be a doorkeeper in the house of my God, than to dwell in the tents of wickedness. Psalm 84:10

One thing I have asked of Yahweh, that I will seek after: that I may dwell in Yahweh’s house all the days of my life, to see Yahweh’s beauty, and to inquire in his temple. Psalm 27:4

Father, one thing I ask: to be close to You. A day in Your presence is better than a thousand anywhere else. Teach me to want You more than I want what You give. Draw me in. Make me hungry for time with You, and let every part of my life make room for it. In Jesus’ name, amen.

A short, honest invitation.

God, come. Fill this place, and fill me. I don’t want a church service, a song, or a feeling. I want You. Soften my heart where it has gone hard. Show me what has been crowding You out. I welcome You in, and I won’t hurry You out. In Jesus’ name, amen.

For when you feel alone, and need to remember He is already there.

Where could I go from your Spirit? Or where could I flee from your presence? If I ascend up into heaven, you are there. If I make my bed in Sheol, behold, you are there! If I take the wings of the dawn, and settle in the uttermost parts of the sea; Even there your hand will lead me, and your right hand will hold me. Psalm 139:7-10

Lord, when I feel alone, remind me that there is nowhere I can go that You aren’t already there. You are in the hospital waiting room, the empty house, the hard conversation. You hold me. I don’t have to feel it to know it’s true. Thank You for being here. In Jesus’ name, amen.

Five simple things to pray, one at a time.

You will show me the path of life. In your presence is fullness of joy. In your right hand there are pleasures forever more. Psalm 16:11

Lord, I pray five things. First, that You would be near to me today. Second, that I would notice You in the ordinary. Third, that I would hear You when You speak. Fourth, that nothing would crowd You out of my life. Fifth, that Your presence would go with me and give me rest. Thank You for answering. In Jesus’ name, amen.

Before you check anything else, check in with Him.

Lord, before I check anything else, I want to check in with You. Be with me this morning. Let me carry Your presence into every room today. Remind me, when things get loud, that You haven’t left. I want to walk with You, not just ask You for things. In Jesus’ name, amen.
