Prayers for a Friend

The one to pray right now.

A friend loves at all times; and a brother is born for adversity. Proverbs 17:17

Lord, I lift up my friend to You. You know what they’re facing. Be near. Give them strength, peace, and what they need. Let them feel loved, by You and by me. Show me how to be a good friend to them. In Jesus’ name, amen.

When they’re hurting, and you can’t fix it.

Bear one another’s burdens, and so fulfill the law of Christ. Galatians 6:2

God, my friend is going through something hard. I can’t take it away, but You can walk with them. Give them strength for each day. Bring people alongside who care. Remind them they’re not alone. In Jesus’ name, amen.

When they’re ill.

He heals the broken in heart, and binds up their wounds. Psalm 147:3

Lord, my friend is sick. Heal their body, and give them rest. Guide the doctors. Calm their fear. Let them know they’re loved, and let me show it. Bring them back to health, in Your way and in Your time. In Jesus’ name, amen.

For a friend who is far from Him, or finding Him.

Father, I pray for my friend’s faith. Draw them to You. Open their eyes to Your love. Give me a gentle word at the right time. Whatever they believe now, keep working in them. In Jesus’ name, amen.

When they need wisdom.

But if any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach; and it will be given to him. James 1:5

Lord, my friend has a big decision to make. Give them wisdom and peace. Let them hear You clearly. Surround them with good counsel. Whatever they choose, let them know You’re with them. In Jesus’ name, amen.

Before you do anything else.

Lord, I’m praying for my friend this morning. Be with them today. Give them what they need, and let them know they’re thought of. Show me one way to encourage them. In Jesus’ name, amen.
