Morning Prayers

Prayers to start your day with God, from one minute to thirty short lines.

“Lord, in the morning you will hear my voice. In the morning I will lay my requests before you, and will watch expectantly.”Psalm 5:3 · World English Bible

The one to say if you only have a minute.

Lord, in the morning you will hear my voice. In the morning I will lay my requests before you, and will watch expectantly. Psalm 5:3

Lord, thank You for this morning. I give You my day: my work, my plans, my worries, and my people. Go before me, and go with me. Give me strength for what is hard, and joy for what is good. Help me love well and work honestly. I trust You with all of it. In Jesus’ name, amen.

Thirty short prayers, one line each. Pray one a day, or all of them at once.

Lord, thank You for this new day. Open my eyes to see what You are doing today. Give me a grateful heart before I ask for anything. Help me start with You, and not with my phone. Fill me with Your peace before the noise begins. Give me strength for what is on my list. Make me patient with the people I will meet. Show me who needs a kind word today. Keep my thoughts clear and my words honest. Guard my heart from worry, and my mouth from anger. Help me focus on one thing at a time. Give me courage to do the hard thing. Let me forgive quickly, and let go of what I can’t fix. Teach me to be content with what You have given me. Help me notice small joys, and say thank You for each. Bless my family, and give us a good day. Protect the people I love while we’re apart. Make me a blessing to someone before the day is over. Help me do my work today with honesty and care. Give me wisdom for every decision today. Remind me that I’m not alone in this day. When I’m tempted to complain, turn it into a prayer. When I’m tired, give me rest in You. When I’m afraid, remind me You are near. Let my words today build people up. Lead me where You want me to go. Close the doors that should be closed, and open the ones that should be opened. Let me be faithful in small things. I give You my plans, and I trust You with the results. Thank You for loving me, and for walking with me today. In Jesus’ name, amen.

Before anything else: give Him the first minutes.

Cause me to hear your loving kindness in the morning, for I trust in you. Cause me to know the way in which I should walk, for I lift up my soul to you. Psalm 143:8

Early in the morning, while it was still dark, he rose up and went out, and departed into a deserted place, and prayed there. Mark 1:35

Father, I start this day with You. Before I check anything, I want to check in with You. Speak to me through Your word, and quiet my heart. Show me what matters today. Let me carry this time with You into everything else. In Jesus’ name, amen.

Three short lines you can say anywhere.

Lord, be with me today. Give me what I need, and help me love the people in front of me. Thank You for this day. Amen. Father, guide my steps, guard my heart, and keep me close to You. Amen. Jesus, I trust You with today. Amen.

Before it starts: for the work, the conversations, and the surprises.

Satisfy us in the morning with your loving kindness, that we may rejoice and be glad all our days. Psalm 90:14

God, I pray for this day. Bless every meeting, every call, and every unexpected moment. Give me wisdom when I don’t know what to say. Give me patience when plans change. Let this day matter, and let me end it grateful. In Jesus’ name, amen.

For the mornings when you have no words.

Lord, I don’t feel like praying this morning. I’m tired, and I don’t have the words. But I’m here, and that’s what I have. Meet me in it. Take what I can’t say, and hear it anyway. Thank You for being patient with me. In Jesus’ name, amen.
