Step Out in Faith

The first step is the hardest.

By faith, Abraham, when he was called, obeyed to go out to the place which he was to receive for an inheritance. He went out, not knowing where he went. Hebrews 11:8

Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and don't lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight. Proverbs 3:5-6

Lord, You’re asking me to step out, and I’m afraid. I can’t see the whole road. But You’ve called me, so I’ll go. Give me courage for one step, and then the next. In Jesus’ name, amen.

Like Peter, out of the boat.

Peter answered him and said, “Lord, if it is you, command me to come to you on the waters.” He said, “Come!” Peter stepped down from the boat, and walked on the waters to come to Jesus. Matthew 14:28-29

Jesus, like Peter, I’m stepping out of the boat. Keep my eyes on You, not on the waves. If I start to sink, catch me. I’d rather walk on water with You than stay safe without You. In Jesus’ name, amen.

What it is, and what it isn’t.

Father, I want to understand what stepping out in faith means. It isn’t recklessness. It’s trusting You enough to obey, even when the outcome isn’t clear. Give me wisdom to tell the difference. In Jesus’ name, amen.

Before the next step.

Lord, give me courage today to take the step You’ve set before me. I won’t wait until I feel ready. I trust You with the road. In Jesus’ name, amen.
