Luke 1:37: Nothing Is Impossible With God

What the verse means, where it comes from, and a prayer for when something feels impossible.

“For nothing spoken by God is impossible.”Luke 1:37 · World English Bible

The words the angel said to Mary.

For nothing spoken by God is impossible. Luke 1:37

Lord, when Mary heard the angel, she had no idea how it could happen. You told her nothing spoken by You is impossible. I’m standing in front of something that feels impossible too. I believe what You said. Do what I can’t. Give me the courage to say yes, as Mary did. In Jesus’ name, amen.

It’s not a promise that you’ll get what you want. It’s a promise about who God is.

Looking at them, Jesus said, “With men this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.” Matthew 19:26

Father, I want to understand this verse rightly. It doesn’t mean I’ll get everything I ask for. It means You are able, and that what You say will be done. Help me trust Your word more than my circumstances. Make my faith bigger than my doubt. In Jesus’ name, amen.

The same truth, the same Lord, in another verse.

Is anything too hard for Yahweh? At the set time I will return to you, when the season comes round, and Sarah will have a son. Genesis 18:14

God, I’m tired of saying it can’t be done. I put the word impossible in Your hands. Nothing is too hard for You: not my situation, not my fear, not my past. Do what only You can. I’ll do my part, and trust You with the rest. In Jesus’ name, amen.

Bring Him the thing that looks too big.

Lord, before this day starts, I bring You what looks impossible. I can’t fix it, but You can. Give me peace while I wait, and wisdom for what I can do. Let me be faithful in the small things today. In Jesus’ name, amen.
