Prayers for the Seasons

Seedtime and harvest, cold and heat, summer and winter. A prayer for each season of the year, and for seasons of life.

“While the earth remains, seed time and harvest, and cold and heat, and summer and winter, and day and night will not cease.”Genesis 8:22 · World English Bible

Often searched as “prayers for fall” or “fall prayers”.

Lord, the leaves are turning and the air is getting cool. Thank You for the beauty of fall: the colors, the harvest, the cozy evenings. As the trees let go of their leaves, help me let go of what I’m meant to release. Prepare my heart for the season ahead. In Jesus’ name, amen.

A harvest prayer. Often searched as “prayers about autumn”.

You visit the earth, and water it. You greatly enrich it. The river of God is full of water. You provide them grain, for so you have ordained it. Psalm 65:9

Father, thank You for the harvest. Every apple, pumpkin, and loaf of bread is a gift from Your hand. You water the earth and fill the fields with grain. As autumn brings shorter days, give me a grateful heart and the wisdom to slow down. In Jesus’ name, amen.

For dark mornings, cold nights, and gray weeks.

Lord, winter is here: dark mornings, cold nights, and long weeks indoors. Be my warmth and my light. Protect the people without a warm place to sleep. Lift the heaviness that comes with gray days. And remind me that under the frozen ground, You are already preparing spring. In Jesus’ name, amen.

The winter is past.

For, behold, the winter is past. The rain is over and gone. The flowers appear on the earth. The time of the singing has come, and the voice of the turtledove is heard in our land. Song of Songs 2:11-12

Lord, the winter is past and the flowers are coming back. Thank You for new life: green buds, birdsong, and longer days. Do in my heart what You’re doing in the ground. Bring back what was dormant, and let something new grow in me this spring. In Jesus’ name, amen.

Often searched as “prayers about summer”.

Father, thank You for summer: long days, warm evenings, and time to rest. Keep my family safe on the road, in the water, and in the sun. Help me slow down without drifting from You. Let this summer be full of good memories, open doors, and time with the people I love. In Jesus’ name, amen.

For a season of life: an ending, a move, a new stage.

The day is yours, the night is also yours. You have prepared the light and the sun. You have set all the boundaries of the earth. You have made summer and winter. Psalm 74:16-17

Lord, I’m in a season of change, and I can feel it. Some things are ending, and I’m not sure what’s beginning. Help me trust You in the in-between. You made summer and winter, and You set the boundaries of the earth. You’re in charge of this season of my life too. In Jesus’ name, amen.

When you notice the light has changed.

Good morning, Lord. The light is different this morning, and the season is turning. Thank You for faithfully bringing the seasons around, year after year. Be faithful to me in this new season, too. In Jesus’ name, amen.
