Prayer for a Positive Outcome

For the waiting, and for whatever you are hoping will go well.

“Commit your way to Yahweh. Trust also in him, and he will do this.”Psalm 37:5 · World English Bible

For when you’re waiting on a result and hoping it goes well.

Lord, I’m waiting, and I’m hoping for a good outcome. You know exactly what I’m facing and how much it matters to me. I ask for a positive result. I also ask for peace while I wait, and the strength to accept what comes. Help me do what is mine to do, and trust You with the rest. Remind me that You are good, even when I can’t see how things will turn out. Whatever the answer is, be near me in it. I’m putting this in Your hands. In Jesus’ name, amen.

Pick the one that fits today.

A plain prayer to bring the situation, whatever it is, to God.

God, I’m bringing this situation to You. You know every detail, even the ones I can’t put into words. I’m asking for a good outcome. Go ahead of me into every conversation, decision, and moment that is coming. Where I need wisdom, give it. Where I need courage, give it. Where I have no control, I place it in Your care. Let what happens be for my good and Your glory. And if the outcome isn’t what I hoped, help me trust that You are still working. In Jesus’ name, amen.

For tests, scans, exams, and any result you’re waiting to hear.

Lord, I’m waiting on a result, and my stomach is in knots. Whether it’s a test, a scan, an exam, or a report, You already know what it says. I ask for good news. But I also ask for steadiness, whichever way it goes. Quiet my mind when it starts racing. Keep me from imagining the worst. Surround me with people who will sit with me, whatever the answer is. Thank You that I can bring even this to You. I wait on You. In Jesus’ name, amen.

For when you want what is truly best, even if it isn’t what you picked.

Father, I want the best outcome, but I know that what I think is best and what is best may not be the same. So I ask You for the best, as You see it. Give me what I need, even if it’s not what I asked for. Give me the grace to let go of how I thought this should go. Help me trust that You see further than I do. You have been good to me before, and You will be good to me now. Have Your way in this. In Jesus’ name, amen.

For a hearing, a trial, or any legal matter that is weighing on you.

Lord, I have a court date, and I’m afraid. You know the truth of this situation. I ask for justice, and I ask for mercy. Give me clear words and a calm voice. Help me tell the truth, and keep me from saying anything out of fear. Give wisdom to the judge and everyone involved. Surround me with people who will help. I ask for a good outcome, and I trust You to work in ways I can’t see. Whatever the ruling, hold me steady. In Jesus’ name, amen.

For the nights when you just need to believe it will be okay.

God, I need to believe that everything will be okay. I don’t know how, and I don’t know when, but I’m asking You to hold it all together. Calm my fears. Turn the knot in my chest into trust. Where things have fallen apart, put them back together in Your time. Remind me that You’re not surprised by any of this. You’ve seen me through hard days before, and You are here now. Let me sleep tonight knowing You are awake. In Jesus’ name, amen.

For a rough season, when you just want things to turn around.

Lord, I’m praying for things to get better. It has been hard for a long time, and I’m worn thin. I’m not asking for everything to be fixed overnight. I’m asking for one step forward, one good day, one opening. Turn things around where I can’t. Give me patience for the slow parts. Help me notice the small good things already here. Keep hope alive in me when I can’t see change. I believe You are working, even now. In Jesus’ name, amen.

For preparing for the worst and still choosing to hope for the best.

Father, I’m doing what I can, and now I’m choosing to pray for the best. I’ve prepared as much as I know how. I’ve thought through what could go wrong. But I don’t want fear to be the loudest voice. Let hope be louder. Help me expect good things from a good God. And if the worst does happen, remind me that You will be there too. Give me courage to hope without being reckless, and faith to rest. In Jesus’ name, amen.

Read these while you wait. Let them carry what you can’t.

For the morning you’re waiting on an answer.

Lord, I woke up thinking about this. Before I check for news, I’m giving it to You. Thank You for this new day. Give me peace for the hours of waiting. Help me do the next right thing, and not live in the worry. Whatever news comes today, let me receive it with trust. Go ahead of me. Be in every part of this day. I begin it with You, and I want to end it with You. In Jesus’ name, amen.
