Prayers for Job Security

When you are afraid of losing your job.

See the birds of the sky, that they don’t sow, neither do they reap, nor gather into barns. Your heavenly Father feeds them. Aren’t you of much more value than they? Matthew 6:26

My God will supply every need of yours according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:19

Lord, I’m afraid of losing my job. You know what I owe and who depends on me. Please protect my work. If You want me here, keep me here. If You have something else, show me early, and don’t let me panic. Remind me that You feed the birds, and You know what I need. I trust You with my paycheck. In Jesus’ name, amen.

For a workplace that feels unsafe or unstable.

Commit your deeds to the Lord, and your plans shall succeed. Proverbs 16:3

Father, I ask for Your protection over my job. Guard me from rumors, from politics, and from mistakes. Give me favor with my boss and my coworkers. Help me work with honesty and care. Where I can’t control what happens, I place it in Your hands. In Jesus’ name, amen.

Short, for the middle of a hard workday.

Lord, I’m praying for job security today. Calm my fear. Help me do my work well, and leave the rest to You. Provide for me and my family, whatever happens. In Jesus’ name, amen.

For a spouse, a parent, or a friend who might be laid off.

God, I’m praying for someone I love whose job feels uncertain. Give them peace in the waiting. Give them wisdom for what to do next. Protect their family from fear, and provide for them in a way they can see. Let them know they are not alone. In Jesus’ name, amen.

For the weeks of rumors and the days of waiting.

Lord, there are layoffs in the air, and I can’t stop thinking about it. Help me keep working with a clear head. Give me courage to prepare for either result. If I stay, let me be grateful. If I go, let there be a next step. I trust You to carry me. In Jesus’ name, amen.

Before you log on or clock in.

Lord, before I start work, I give this day to You. Give me focus and honesty. Let what I do be useful. Bless my coworkers, and give me patience with the hard ones. Thank You for the work You’ve given me. In Jesus’ name, amen.
