Prayer for Encouragement

For a day when you’re running low and need to be lifted.

Lord, I need encouragement today. I’m tired, and I’ve been carrying more than I admit. Lift my head. Remind me who You are, and who I am to You. Speak to the part of me that wants to quit. Send me a kind word, a good reminder, or a quiet moment of peace. Show me that I’m not as alone as I feel. Fill me with courage for what is in front of me. Thank You for being close to the discouraged. Hold me up, and I will stand. In Jesus’ name, amen.

To pray for yourself, or to read aloud over someone you love.

God of all comfort, thank You for being near. You see what is heavy, and You care. Encourage the heart that is weary right now. Give strength where there is weakness and hope where there is doubt. Remind us that what we’re facing is not the end of the story. You have brought us through before, and You will again. Put joy back in our steps. Let us feel Your love, and let that be enough for today. In Jesus’ name, amen.

For when you need to be lifted up and held up at the same time.

Father, I need strength and I need encouragement, and You are the source of both. When my own strength runs out, be my strength. When my spirit sinks, lift it. Remind me that You never grow tired. Give me courage for the next step, not the whole road. Let me feel that You are on my side. I won’t pretend I’m fine. I’m bringing You my weakness, and I’m asking You to meet it. Strengthen my hands and encourage my heart. In Jesus’ name, amen.

For a friend who is struggling. Pray it for them, or send it to them.

Lord, I’m thinking of my friend today, and I know they’re having a hard time. Encourage them. Let them know they’re not forgotten. Give them strength for what they’re facing. Bring someone to remind them of their worth. Remind them that You are near, and that this season will not last forever. Show me how to be there for them: what to say, and when to just sit with them. Let my friend feel Your love through mine. Hold them up today. In Jesus’ name, amen.

A prayer to read when you need a push. Pray it more than once.

Lord, I’m asking You to encourage me. Remind me that I’m doing better than I think. Remind me that small steps still count. Give me the energy to keep going, and the grace to rest when I need to. Let me see the good that You are already doing. Take away the voice that says I’m not enough. Replace it with Yours. I’m not giving up. I’m trusting You for one more day. In Jesus’ name, amen.

For when you only have a moment.

Lord, encourage my heart today. Lift what is heavy. Give me strength to take the next step, and hope for what comes after. Remind me that I’m not alone. Thank You for never leaving. In Jesus’ name, amen.

To begin with praise, and let your heart rise.

Lord, You are good, and Your love never changes. When my feelings go up and down, You stay the same. Thank You for this day, and for every small thing that went right. Lift my spirit with Your joy. Fill my mind with what is true, lovely, and worth hoping for. Help me see the good around me. Use me to lift someone else today. My heart is lighter already, because I’ve remembered who You are. In Jesus’ name, amen.

For when you know what you need to do and can’t find the energy.

God, I know what I need to do, but I can’t seem to start. My energy is low and my motivation is gone. Give me a reason to get up. Remind me why this matters. Help me take one small step, and then another. Quiet the voice that says it’s pointless. Give me strength that isn’t mine, and focus that lasts. Let me work for You, and not just for results. Make me willing, Lord, and then make me able. In Jesus’ name, amen.

Read these slowly. Let God’s words do the encouraging.

Be strong and courageous. Don't be afraid. Don't be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go. Joshua 1:9

Don't you be afraid, for I am with you. Don't be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you. Yes, I will help you. Isaiah 41:10

The Lord, your God, is among you, a mighty one who will save. He will rejoice over you with joy. He will calm you in his love. Zephaniah 3:17

Come to me, all you who labor and are heavily burdened, and I will give you rest. Matthew 11:28

Therefore exhort one another, and build each other up, even as you also do. 1 Thessalonians 5:11

Before the day asks anything of you.

Lord, before the day asks anything of me, I’m asking something of You. Encourage me. Remind me that You are with me in every meeting, every errand, and every hard moment. Give me strength that doesn’t run out by noon. Help me encourage someone else today, with a word, a message, or a smile. Let me notice the small good things. I start this day leaning on You, and I’ll end it thanking You. In Jesus’ name, amen.
