For the moms, and for everyone for whom Mother’s Day is complicated.

“As one whom his mother comforts, so will I comfort you. You will be comforted in Jerusalem.”Isaiah 66:13 · World English Bible

Often searched as “mothers day prayer” or “prayer for mothers day”.

Lord, on this Mother’s Day, thank You for mothers. Thank You for the mothers who carried us, the ones who adopted us, and the grandmothers, aunts, and spiritual mothers who loved us like their own. Bless them with rest, joy, and the knowledge that they are deeply appreciated. Where they are tired, renew them. Where they are hurting, comfort them. In Jesus’ name, amen.

For every woman who has nurtured someone, and every woman for whom today is hard.

Father, today we honor all women who nurture life: mothers and grandmothers, stepmothers and foster moms, teachers, mentors, and friends who have mothered someone along the way. We remember women who long to be mothers, women who have lost children, and women whose mothers are gone. Bless each one with Your love today. In Jesus’ name, amen.

To send to your mom.

Happy Mother’s Day, Mom! I thank God for you today: for every meal, every prayer, every late night, and every time you believed in me. May He fill your day with joy and your year with good health. I love you. Amen.

A blessing for any mother: a friend, a sister, your wife.

May the Lord bless you this Mother’s Day. May your children rise up and call you blessed. May God give you strength for the hard days, laughter for the ordinary ones, and peace that lasts all year. Happy Mother’s Day. Amen.

Two verses about mothers, and a short prayer built on them.

Strength and dignity are her clothing. She laughs at the time to come. Proverbs 31:25

She opens her mouth with wisdom. Faithful instruction is on her tongue. Proverbs 31:26

Lord, thank You for the mothers who are clothed with strength and dignity, and who speak with wisdom and kindness. Bless them today, and let them laugh without fear at the days to come. In Jesus’ name, amen.

With Mary, the mother of Jesus. Often searched as “catholic prayer for mothers on mother’s day”.

Lord, on this Mother’s Day we thank You for our mothers, and for Mary, the mother of Jesus, who said yes to You and stood by her Son at the cross. Through her example, bless every mother with faith, courage, and tenderness. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for all mothers today. Amen.

When every card and flower is for someone else’s mom.

Blessed are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted. Matthew 5:4

Lord, Mother’s Day is hard this year. Everywhere I look there are cards and flowers for moms, and mine is gone. Thank You for the years I had with her. Comfort me in the missing. Let me remember her with gratitude more than grief today, and hold me close. In Jesus’ name, amen.

For miscarriage, stillbirth, and every mother whose child has died.

He heals the broken in heart, and binds up their wounds. Psalm 147:3

Lord, she is still a mother, even though her child is not in her arms today. Whether she lost her baby before birth or her grown child last year, You know every day she carried them and every day she’s missed them since. Hold her through this Mother’s Day. Let people say her child’s name. In Jesus’ name, amen.

For infertility, adoption waits, and a dream that hasn’t come.

He settles the barren woman in her home, as a joyful mother of children. Praise Yah! Psalm 113:9

Father, Mother’s Day hurts for women who are still waiting: through infertility, failed adoptions, or a dream that hasn’t come. You see every tear. Be near to them today in a church full of flowers for other people. Give them comfort, hope, and the knowledge that their worth was never measured by motherhood. In Jesus’ name, amen.

When the greeting cards don’t say what’s true.

Lord, Mother’s Day isn’t simple for me. My relationship with my mom is complicated, and the greeting cards don’t say what’s true. Help me honor her where I can, set healthy boundaries where I need to, and forgive what I’m able to forgive. Heal what’s broken between us, and what’s broken in me. In Jesus’ name, amen.

Before the kids wake up.

Good morning, Lord. Before the kids wake up and the day begins, I want a moment with You. Give me patience, energy, and joy for today. Help me love my family well, and remember that You are caring for me too. In Jesus’ name, amen.
