Easter Blessings

Blessings to say aloud, say at the door, or send to someone you love. Each one with a voice to listen to.

“‘Yahweh bless you, and keep you. Yahweh make his face to shine on you, and be gracious to you. Yahweh lift up his face toward you, and give you peace.’”Numbers 6:24-26 · World English Bible

To read to a room, or to someone you love. Often searched as “religious easter blessings” or “spiritual easter blessings”.

‘Yahweh bless you, and keep you. Yahweh make his face to shine on you, and be gracious to you. Yahweh lift up his face toward you, and give you peace.’ Numbers 6:24-26

May the risen Christ meet you this Easter. May his peace settle over your house. May what has been dead in you be raised, and what has been heavy be lifted. May you know that you are loved beyond measure, and that no stone is too heavy for him to move. Christ is risen. He is risen indeed.

Easter blessings

Pick the one that fits today.

A single blessing, short enough to remember. Often searched as “blessing at easter”.

May the joy of the resurrection fill your heart this morning. May you walk out of every tomb that has held you. May you laugh more than you worry, forgive more than you remember, and hope more than you fear. The Lord is risen. May his light go with you today.

To say before the day begins.

May the God who raised Jesus from the dead raise up whatever is weary in you. May he give you a quiet heart and an open door. May you find in every face today a reason for gladness. May you be a blessing to someone who needs it. And may Easter stay with you long after the day is over.

To say around the table or at the door. Often searched as “easter blessing for family”.

May God bless this family. May there be room for everyone at the table and grace for everyone in the conversation. May the old stories be told gently and the new ones begin here. May the risen Lord be the unseen guest at our meal, and may peace stay in this house.

To send as a message.

Happy Easter! May the risen Christ bless you with peace, joy, and a heart that is full of hope. May this day remind you that you are never alone, and that every tomb has been opened. Thank you for being in my life. Wherever you are today, may you feel how much you are loved. He is risen!

A parent’s blessing, at the door or at bedtime.

May God bless you, my child, on Easter morning. May you know that Jesus loves you and that he is alive. May you grow up kind and brave and curious. May you always find your way home to him. I am so glad you are mine, and so glad God is yours.

For a phone call, a card, or a text.

May the Lord bless you this Easter, wherever you are. May you feel us thinking of you across the miles. May God put someone kind at your table, and may you know that there is always a chair for you here. We are praying for you. Christ is risen!

For the first Easter after a loss. No clichés, just company.

Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in me will still live, even if he dies. Whoever lives and believes in me will never die. Do you believe this?” John 11:25-26

May God hold you today. I will not say it is easier, or that they are in a better place, or that it all happens for a reason. I will say that Jesus knows what it is to weep at a grave, and that he is the resurrection and the life. May that be a quiet comfort when the day is hard. I am with you.

For the friend who stays home, or has not gone in years. Jesus met two travellers on the road, and they did not even recognize him at first.

When he had sat down at the table with them, he took the bread and gave thanks. Breaking it, he gave it to them. Their eyes were opened, and they recognized him, and he vanished out of their sight. Luke 24:30-31

May you find that God has been walking with you all along, even when you did not know it. May you not have to be perfect to be welcome. May a door open this week that you did not expect. May you be seen, and known, and loved, just as you are.

For welcoming guests in.

When therefore it was evening, on that day, the first day of the week, and when the doors were locked where the disciples were assembled, for fear of the Jews, Jesus came and stood in the middle, and said to them, “Peace be to you.” John 20:19

Peace be with you as you come in. May this house be a place of rest. May the food be good and the talk be kind. May whoever walks through this door leave a little lighter than they came. Welcome, in the name of the risen Lord.

For the alarm on Easter morning.

Good morning, and happy Easter. May God go before you today, and behind you, and beside you. May the risen Christ be in every conversation. May you carry his peace into every room you enter. Rise with joy; he has already risen.
