Prayers for Safe Travel

The one to say as you leave.

Yahweh will keep you from all evil. He will keep your soul. Yahweh will keep your going out and your coming in, from this time forward, and forever more. Psalm 121:7-8

Lord, I’m about to travel, and I ask for Your protection. Keep me safe on the road, in the air, and in every place I stop. Watch over my going out and my coming in. Give me patience with delays, and kindness with people. Bring me home safe. In Jesus’ name, amen.

For the person who is on their way.

If I take the wings of the dawn, and settle in the uttermost parts of the sea; Even there your hand will lead me, and your right hand will hold me. Psalm 139:9-10

Father, someone I love is traveling. Keep them safe on the way. Watch over the drivers, the pilots, and every traveler. Give them rest, and bring them to where they’re going. Let me not worry while I wait. I trust You with them. In Jesus’ name, amen.

For takeoff, turbulence, and landing.

For he will put his angels in charge of you, to guard you in all your ways. Psalm 91:11

God, I’m flying, and I’m a little afraid. Calm me. Steady the plane, the pilots, and the weather. Let this be a smooth flight. If it’s bumpy, remind me You’re in control. Bring us all down safely. In Jesus’ name, amen.

For long drives and family trips.

Lord, we’re heading out on a long drive. Keep us alert, safe, and kind to each other. Protect us from accidents, and from tiredness. Give us good conversation and good rest. Bring us back home. In Jesus’ name, amen.

The old phrase, and what it asks.

Behold, I am with you, and will keep you, wherever you go, and will bring you again into this land. For I will not leave you, until I have done that which I have spoken of to you. Genesis 28:15

Father, grant us traveling mercies. Be our guide on the way. Bring us to our destination in peace. Let the trip be a blessing, and let us come home safe and grateful. In Jesus’ name, amen.

On the day you leave.

Lord, today I begin a journey. Go before me. Give me wisdom for the road and patience for the delays. Let every mile be under Your care. Thank You for going with me. In Jesus’ name, amen.
